What is WHM (Web Host Manager)?

Web Host Manager, or WHM, is a powerful program that allows administrative access to the back end of cPanel. Reseller accounts get basic WHM. Dedicated Servers and VPS accounts get root WHM (also called rWHM), which has features that require root access to the server enabled.

Log into WHM

The address you use to log in to WHM can be found by using either the IP of the server or your domain name (assuming it points to the right place).

Example addresses:

  • http://yourdomain.com:2086 (where 'yourdomain.com' is your actual primary domain name)

  • https://123.123.123.123:2087 (IP of the server you are logging into)

The login credentials will be present in your product Welcome email. The login username for VPS and dedicated servers will mostly likely be root. The login username for reseller's is the same login you use for your cPanel account.

Reset Your WHM Password

Resellers

From the WHM login screen, you can reset your password by completing the following steps:

  1. Click Reset Password in the lower, right-hand side corner of the screen.

  2. Enter your billing account email and password in the appropriate fields.

  3. Click Continue; the login box will display 'Working' as it loads your account information.
  4. Select the account for which you would like the password reset.

  5. After you enter a new, valid password twice, click Reset Password.

Note: if you DO NOT see the password reset option, you can reset your WHM password via your Customer Area (it's the same as your cPanel password). See instructions here.

VPS and Dedicated Servers

To change the root password for your VPS or Dedicated Server:

  1. Log into WHM.

  2. Click the Server Configuration icon on the home screen.

  3. From the Server Configuration menu, click Change Root Password.

  4. In the New Password field enter the desired new password.

  5. In the Confirm New Password field retype the new password.

  6. Click Change Password to confirm your changes.

To reset the root WHM password on your account, we may request additional information to verify your identity. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
